Follow These Tips to Keep Your Toilet Clean

Grimy toilet rings are the worst enemy for almost every homeowner. But that is not all. The most frustrating thing is to clean them. The truth is that nobody loves spending their precious time cleaning toilets and scrubbing away the dirt.

So, what if you knew a few things that can make your toilet remain clean for longer? Wouldn’t it be a time savior?

No need to continue suffering in silence because we are here to make your life easier. Keep reading to discover a few tips to get your toilet clean and safe for many hours.

If you are like most people out there, you probably use bleach to obliterate toilet stains and germs. However, toilet cleaning experts say that plain old white vinegar is much more effective and safer than typical chlorine bleach.

To eliminate the hard water stains, soak some toilet paper in vinegar and place it directly on top of the stain. Let the vinegar-soaked tissue paper sit on the bowl overnight. Flush and rinse the bowl the next morning, and the hard water stains will have disappeared.

Full strength vinegar also works perfectly on grout and caulk. You can use a spray bottle to carefully saturate the intended area and let it soak in the vinegar for at least one hour before you rinse.

  • Use Tape to Clean the Siphon Jets

No matter how thorough you are at cleaning your toilets, they will definitely get dirty quicker if you skip this step.  It is a simple process that can save you a lot of time and trouble in the long run.

Once you have cleaned under the rim, shut off the water completely, flush the toilet bowl, and carefully place the tape over your siphon jets before you flush down some vinegar.

The results will be amazing and will help in keeping your toilets clean for a longer period.  Make sure you are not using too much vinegar while flushing.

  • Sanitize with Hydrogen Peroxide

How many times have you sanitized your toilet using hydrogen peroxide? If you haven’t discovered this trick, then you have been missing out on something special.

Hydrogen peroxide is a safe and effective stain and germ fighter that can help keep your toilet safe and clean for a longer period. To disinfect your toilet, simply pour a half cup of hydrogen peroxide into the bowl and let it stand for at least 30 minutes before you flush and rinse thoroughly.

While most of these tasks seem simple, we understand that you might not have time to perform them. If you don’t have the time to keep your washroom clean, you should consider hiring a residential cleaning company that can perform these tasks on your behalf.

  • Always Shut the Lid When Flushing

One of the best ways to keep your toilet clean between cleaning sessions is to keep the lid shut while flushing. If you don’t, the fecal matter and germs from the toilet bowl can easily spread up into the air with the force created by the sudden gush of water.

This is commonly referred to as toilet plume and can also settle on the bowl, causing stubborn stains to build up. The best way to avoid it is to simply close the toilet lid while flushing.
